From 20 to 22 June 2022, the Council of State participated in the 14th Triennial Congress of the International Association of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions (IASAJ), organised in Brussels by the Belgian Council of State. The central theme of the event was the role of the supreme administrative courts during the Covid-19 crisis.
The International Association of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions (IASAJ) held its 14th Triennial Congress in Brussels from 20 to 22 June 2022. Organised by the Council of State of Belgium, which has held the presidency of the Association since 2019, the Congress provided an opportunity to discuss the role of the supreme administrative jurisdictions during the Covid-19 crisis. Vice-President, Didier-Roland Tabuteau, led the delegation of the French Council of State, which was composed of Mrs Martine de Boisdeffre, President of the Report and Studies Section of the Council of State and Secretary General of IASAJ, and Mr Yves Gounin, Delegate for International Relations.
During three days, participants discussed the adaptation of the supreme administrative courts during the health crisis and the content of their case law. The Association's Board of Directors and General Assembly also met on this occasion.
The Congress was opened by Mr Roger Stevens, First President of the Council of State of Belgium and current President of IASAJ. Mr Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice, then gave a European perspective on the theme of the Congress. At the closing ceremony, Mrs Annelies Verlinden, Belgian Interior Minister, gave a speech presenting the legislative and administrative measures taken during the Covid-19 crisis and the forthcoming reform of the Belgian Council of State.
At the end of the Congress, the Supreme Court of Chile was elected to the presidency of the Association for the period from 2022 to 2025. It will be responsible for organising the next Congress, which will take place in Santiago in 2025.

The International Association of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions (IASAJ) was founded in 1983 and is now based at the French Council of State. It brings together the supreme administrative jurisdictions of 63 countries. Its mission is to promote the exchange of ideas and experience between these jurisdictions.
