From June 10 to 12, 2026, the Franco-British-Irish Committee on Judicial Cooperation* met at the Council of State and the Court of Cassation for a symposium on the careers, training, ethics, and discipline of judges.

This 17th edition brought together members from the Council of State, the Court of Cassation, and several courts across the Channel, notably the English Court of Appeal and the Scottish and Irish Supreme Courts. They engaged in discussions during three roundtables, from a comparative perspective, on:

-    the careers of judges;
-    the training of judges;
-    professional ethics and discipline.

*The Franco-British Committee on Judicial Cooperation was established in 1994 to strengthen judicial cooperation between France and the United Kingdom. Ireland joined in 2007. It brings together senior representatives of the judiciary from the three countries. The Committee meets at conferences every two years. It addresses common issues in public and private law, with an emphasis on judicial practice.
